A quick note to pass on that I'm back in th A/C, safe and sound. Topped out above 115 today--one thermometer we read showed "127." Danger, danger, danger.....Fought all day to hold it together, tetering back and for with headache and fatique. Just as I thought I'd have it under control, another wave would hit.
Pulled the plug (a first) at 14+ hrs in, about 6 miles shy and layed on a picnic table for about an hour.
KP, recall a race report where you detailed laying in the grass in Kona--as I laid there in misery, your trial crossed my mind.
OK. So before I go on rambling with fatigue, I'll cut it short. I'll put some thoghts to paper over the next few days. Thank you ALL for the support, good vibes, and motivation.
All is good--thanks Scott for the pecan pie!!
Cheers from Baghdad,
