correct sleeping posture

I was told recently by a chiropractor that the best sleeping posture is on the back with a cervical roll under the neck and the knees suported by a pillow. I usually sleep on my side. I tried this and my neck felt fantastic but after a few days my lower back started getting really tight. I may have the knee supported improperly.
have you guys tried to sleep this way? is it really the best way?
