This is a picture of my foot six days post surgery. Today was the first bandage change. My surgeon and I are very pleased with results so far. Other than these few minutes, the foot is wrapped up like a mummy and I am on crutches in a boot. I didn't tape what looks like "poster board pins" to the bottom of my toes. They are metal pins that run down into the foot, about as far as the band aid. A real shish kabob! They will be removed in about four weeks. Sooner or later, each athlete is faced with decisions about training and racing with structural weakness, injury or illness. It's not always an easy decision. Or is it? I'll be sharing my point of view on this subject as part of GordoWorld's ALTERNATIVE PERSPECTIVES in the near future.
