I have a tip that may or may not prove useful for those trying to adapt to BL/3 swimming. I am a pretty good swimmer, usually top 10-15 percent of males in races I do. I'm an every stroke breathe right guy, however. I'm committed to swimming training and races in the future BL/3, but it has been slow going. I can swim 10X100 on 1:30 no problem, but 10x100 BL/3 on 1:45 is a chore.
I work at Duke University and one of the swim coaches (who swam in the Olympics for Jamaica) was kind enough to watch me. She thinks my stroke is good, I'm just not getting enough air on the left. Her solution was to swim for two weeks solely breathing to the left. Once that becomes rote, then go back to BL/3 for good.
I thought this might help some of you if you are struggling with it as much as I am. I'm going to give it a shot and see what happens.
