I rode out to Waikoloa and back this morning. Temps were nice at 7:00am and the winds reasonably light. Similar to the last two years race day conditions. Then, about 5 miles before Waikoloa head winds really picked up. That area ia a good predictor of what things might be like on the climb to Hawi. It was also warmer by 8:30am than it has been all week. To summarize, today was warmer, earlier than in previous days this week & morning skies were clear -- no cloud cover. The winds kicked up a bit more as well. On monday, I was at Waikoloa near noon and it was not as windy as today at 8:30. I am guessing high 80s and increasing winds on race day (stress guessing).
