training overload question

A question for everyone.
What is a good way to monitor/track if your training with enough
volume and or intensity?
How would you know if your not doing enough?
I guess it's quite an open ended question but I'm trying to establish a way of being able to maximise my weekly training in terms of volume and intensity. I don't want it to be too much but I also don't want it to be too little either. How do you all establish those paramaters?
