IMC pacing and diet

Couple of thoughts regarding the posts noted below.
7:42 pacing for IMC was not what I hoped for. Multifactorial reasons, most that has been already hashed over. Largest underlying reason was mental--pushed too hard at the end of the bike b/c I wasn't mentally prepared to ride that slow. Mental breakdown at the end of the run b/c I wasn't prepared to race that slow.
Managing expectations are the most difficult thing in Ironman racing. Many people, including myself, aren't prepared for "realistic" results. When I sensed that I wasn't going to reach my goals, I sabotaged myself physically.
I don't see IMC as a failure, though. I feel like I did 90% or more of the day correctly...and had a PR in relation to my standing against the field. It just encourages me to "manage my race expectations" differently in order to have the day where I execute closer to 100%.
In regard to binging in the evening...I eat a boatload of apples at night when I'm hungry. The other big thing that is helpful is to drink 20 oz of water the very first thing you do in the morning when you wake up. You pee all morning, but KP is dead on about satiety and dehydration.
I never want to be hungry. Don't believe in it...starving yourself isn't sustainable physically or mentally.
