Race eve! This morning started coolish and called for a swim:
The swim course is two loops (without having to run back onto the beach before the second loop) and the water is cool (18C, 64F). My breath was taken away for the first 30 seconds and whilst the water didn't feel too bad, after 15 minutes I had problems talking to some people on the shore! I've decided I'll be wearing my neoprene hood and have put plenty of layers in my bike bag - I figure I can make a judgement call when getting out the water as to how much I want to warm up on the bike - the gloves are looking pretty appetising!
This afternoon we checked out part of the off-road section of the run course and it looks fantastic - here is the section that runs by the Clutha river:
Tomorrow calls for fine weather, a Northerly wind and a high of 31C (88F) - looks like hydration will be key!
PS. The kids swimming here rocks!:
