Folks, here is a story (happy, sad, spooky, crazy .. you decide).. so, the tour is being telecast live and for the first time in my life i even get to watch it on TV.. superbly inspired, Im on my morning workout including a TT effort, unfortunately on a bike-trail as I am in the almost-armpit-of-urban-life.. I get stopped by a cop for not putting my foot down in what is the 3rd stop sign in less than 2Ks of trail.. Im all for safety and no TT is worth a crash but, I was humored more than I care to admit. What are they going to do next?
-- Tickets for bikes? This has happened before (when we had to register bikes and theve given us tickets.. we were on single speeds in the middle of Baltic winter).
-- Industrial strength helmets complete with wind-shield wipers and scratch proof surfaces.. pilots have them so can cyclists.
-- a sin-bin at the side of the trail where we are required to take off our shoes and socks and put them back on ten times before we get back on the trail
or best .. a riding ban where they take away your tires at the point of conflict.
Im all for safe riding and too poor to afford an accident but, where do you draw the line??
"What we've got here is a failure to communicate"
At least I have good bike clothes now and look too good to be pulled over
Safe riding folks!
