In case anyone is interested or if it might help someone:
I picked up "Championship Triathlon Training" last week by Jonas/Dallam (Hunter Kemper's coach), and one of the weight training suggestions was single legged 1/4 squats. However, it says that if your pelvis tilts when moving the weight to your support leg, you have weak hip abductors and should do the lying side leg lifts until you can support the weight.
I didn't even have any weight when trying this, and sure enough I tilted a LOT. More evidence of the weak glutes being the contributing factor for *my* ITB problems, and KP's rec that I do side-lying leg lifts.
I've been doing them regularly, and I've also switched to flatter, more neutral shoes per Noakes' recommendation in Lore of Running. So far I've been having much less trouble.
