Saturday coastal ride

Today I got in my first ride with duration over 3hrs in six weeks. The gap was not due to physical problems, just family and work scheduling conflicts. My last longer ride was done at the end of the bike camp I did in July and early August. To be clear -- inconsistent training is not beneficial to your fitness!
But, it was great to be out there. It was a glorius day on the coast with all kinds of activity out there. Some patchy high clouds on the way home made 'holes' of sunshine where sunbeams shined down on the water resulting in patches of golden water surrounded by deep blue ocean. September is the best time to be in SoCal. Not just because of the perfect weather but because the crowds thin out on the coast. This is _the_ month to vist southtown -- the big SD.
On the way up and down the coast, the "Pink Tour" bus parked in Cardif as the Roxy female pro surfing circuit hit town. Further north it was "Harbor Day" in Oceanside and there was booths and food aplenty. There is an increased prescence of the Kona crew that is in San Diego for the next couple weeks before hitting the Big Island. Camp Pendleton was typically pretty empty and a great place to get in some steady to mod-hard intervals. It was a good day to be on the bike!
