I am pleased to be able to get invloved with pre-race and race day support of the CAF. Specifically, I will be working with Ryan Van Praet. Ryan is from Chatham ON Canada and is visually impaired. I'll meet up with Ryan and his wife Mindy at about 5:00am. From there, Ryan and I will get set up in transition and prepare for the start of the race -- checking bags, checking for bike mechanicals, air up the tires, place food, etc. I'll be down at water's edge to make sure he moves into and out of the ocean smoothly and through swim to bike transition like a champ. Then, post bike leg I will guide Ryan through the bike to run transition like the champ he is. On a side note, Ryan will wear #179 which has been reserved by the WTC for special use since the Blazeman finished wearing that number during his fight against ALS.

Here's a nice shot of the Challenged Athletes and their handlers. These guys are STUDS!
Big shout out to Steve Black (7th from left top row) who is responsible for IM Hawaii CAF race organization.
