Weights and running

Hey you guys,
Just getting some ideas from different folks.. a good advisor recommends combining a hard run (break, sleep, eat) with weights sessions... However, I think my current trainer is trying to kill me and consequently there are lots of deadlifts in the program. Any recommendations for stretching or active recovery post this? I did a hard spin class and the cool-down was a brisk walk/jog for about 10 minutes.
Also, what are some fabulous strength/flexbility things that you are doing?
My current form on a magic device called a bosu ball simulates an earthquake and is VERY entertaining. I LOVE IT
