Freshening post camps // Performance Boost

I had a solid ride today. My first stronger effort post Tucson Camp. Volume camps are a good way to get a bump added to the fitness you have entering the week. However, to see the performance benefits an athlete needs to be sure the training has been absorbed. This ride was nine days after I got home. In that time I did nothing but shorter, easier efforts. I have advised some athletes to get back to a solid balanced week quite a bit faster than that. However, those athletes usually do not feel the fitness boost right away as they likely carry some residual fatigue. When they shed that fatigue there will likely be an increase in performance.
Remember, performance = fitness - fatigue. Ride time today was 2:50 // terrain flat to rolling out to the base of Lake Wohlford Road and Valley Center.
